| Wow, I haven't used xanga in ages and here I am, ready to post something meaningless. Just kidding. Weekly Sunday updates was maybe a bit unnecessary. Although, I have had that strange urge to post something "sentimental" and maybe bittersweet. It must be due to the fact that I barely have a thing to do during these hot summer months. So it goes.
Well, this is it, I have finally graduated from high school. Who could have thought that Elbert had the capacity or even the maturity to complete this stage in his life? It still baffles me to think that Ill be going off to college in about five weeks. I am still scared, but at the same time I am very relieved to be done with Webster Schroeder. Don't get me wrong, I love the teachers and friends that I have met during these past four years. I will miss you peoples so. =( But there is a point where one gets sick of the day to day life of public schools. All that crazy busy work. >.<
Oh the memories. It's crazy to think of all the things I have done in only the short time span of 17 years. This year alone, I have possibly done some of the stupidest and most embarrassing things in my life. Let's see... I'll never ever have the chance to pretend to rap in Chinese. I'll probably never submit myself to getting a butterfly tattoo in exchange for a cup of dippin-dots. I'll never jump down a flight of stairs and sprain my ankle for a Math League commercial. I'll never be able to paint abstract art in Physics C class. I guess these stupid, teenage choices were long overdue. I wasn't living on the "wild side" of life. Of course senior year draws out the dumbest things in people. Luckily most of these decisions will have little to no long term impact; just a good laugh.
However, they were great experiences. Now that I look back, I have changed so much. From being the quiet, nerdy loser in elementary school, I have become a silly, maybe likeable, nerdy loser. Wait, I guess much hasn't really changed then. Haha, I'm kidding. Yes, I have changed a lot as a person. All of my experiences has molded me into a functional social being. Crazy I know!
Well, I thank you all (whoever ish reading this; whom I hope would be my friends) for the fond memories and experiences. It has been a blast and I'm grateful to spend it with you guys. I'm not going to go through all the specific group of peoples; it takes too much effort. I will miss you all. Now I must tread through the next adventure in my life; college. Hopefully all will go smoothly.
P.S. - I forget that this will be my last summer living in Rochester. I love this city. It's so peaceful and cultured. And to think that we are going to move to a place with a very small Asian community. >.< Oh well...

| Mmmm... what a week. It was filled with all of these nerdy, yet fun, extra-cirricular activities. Ahhh... I barely had school. However, it was quite stressful and I kinda lost some sleep, but it was definately worthwhile. =) Of course many amazing things occured (like one thing in particular). So, it was overall a good week.
Well, if you didnt know.... Minority Report was 4th overall for Senior Days, but we did snag first for the lip-sync. So as a result of that, I am now a "mad sweet rapper". >.< Oh yea!! Now Im just so popular. Oh well, that whole hype is now over.
Why was this week so exciting? Well, there was a Math League and a Science Olympiad competition. Now you may think this is just lame, but I was able to miss many days of school. So, Im not complaining. Besides, I was able to hang out with friends. So on Thursday, we were off to RIT for the All-County Math League. Mmm... what a time. Who doesnt love to math for the whole day? Well, the math wasnt too exciting, just really hard. At least its better than a typical day.
But then there was the Science Olympiad Competition at West Point. Yay! There were many good times. Again, we had to share a bus with Thomas. I guess this time it wasnt too unbearable. Yet, they were an all guy team... again. I have no idea how this works out, but its a minor issue. Anyways, some of the strangest things occured during these last two days such as finding a strange bag in BK. Oi, but I was able to take alot of pictures. Some of which can be seen on my facebook.
I guess what makes this trip most memorable is the fact that I was able to "intimidate people". Now, I think of myself as a cheerful person who isnt assertive enough to stand up to someone. I mean, I always smile... or it seems like it. I cant be very mean. Ok, so when we were at a restaurant, some of the Thomas kids decided to buy a drink for one girl on this team. What nerve right? So we had to send someone to stand up for her... and I decided to do it. Of course, I wasnt really serious. I didnt even use a demeaning tone, and somehow the Thomas kids were so scared that they sent a letter to apologize for their actions. I just thought that was pretty amusing.
Heh, in the end, we placed 19th out of 48 teams. Oi... >.< Oh well... and Im very tired. But at least I can go home now. No more staying after school!

| Now one would think that the first week back from break would really suck... but I must say, it was possibly the best week of my senior year! =) Yay!
Yay for Senior Week (ahem... I mean days). Now yes, it did include many days of embarassment, but nevertheless, it was quite fun. I wish I brought my camera, but oh well =P. Ill find some pictures. I guess the strange part about Senior week is the fact that it seemed like the school administration wanted us to really lose. I mean, after all, they magically accepted our team name (Minority Report). Ok, maybe Im being paranoid, but... during the tug-of-war, we were facing two ridiculously strong and athletic teams. o.O... but thast another story in itself.
Along with all of this fun came sleep deprevation. So the school administration strongly suggests that senior teams shouldnt have sleepovers (since we are rowdy teens after all), but we did anyways to work on stuff (such as making silly costumes and working on our lip-sync). Of course, being one of the nerdiest teams, we didnt do anything bad =). Yay for us... I guess? =P
So in the end, I was finally able to have some fun. But what did I learn from this experience? I think I can sum it up in a list:
1) Although Asians look good in black, wearing all black practically everyday of week looks really bad. >.< 2) Somehow having a low-cut shirt with many holes in it makes me look like a pirate. Elbert (holding up his "pirate shirt") - Am I showing too much skin? 3) If given a choice, always choose the pickles. =) 4) As much as people liked our lip-sync, I really cant rap (espesically in Chinese). 5) Sleep is very good.
Well other than that, the Skycoasters Concert was amazing. Of course, being me, I was probably bobbing up and down during most of the pop songs. Heh, I was getting in the groove of course. =) It was great seeing Eric and Elaine last night. Yay! And of course, the dancing was the highlight of the night. Oh... and going out to Friendly's Mmmm... food.
Ok, this week should be pretty amazing yet stressful at the same time. Weeee!

| Mmmmm what a winter break! Like every break, I got fever. Im not complaining, I just find it interesting. Luckily I was only sick for a day. =)
Anywhoo, besides that, it was just a time to relax. Somehow, I lacked alot of homework. So for a few days, I felt really bored. At least I was out and about. Well, I just enjoyed alot of Wii time. Mmmm... Wii at Jason's house. Yay! And then there was more Wii time at Tricia's house. So... I guess my break was full of Wii. Wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii (I wanted to change that up).
Hmmm what else? Oh, we did start working for Senior days. Haha! Now, there is a lip-sync competition and we decided to do a mix of ethnic songs. Haha, just to continually point out that we are "Minority Report". Oh dear... the school administration is going to hate us. After all, they dont like people to be "different" (this is a whole other story that I dont want to get into). Well, we spent alot of time (more like wasting time) choosing the right music, costume, and other trivial things. But we did end watching Minority Report to... somehow find some inspiration? I dont know. Oh its such a... mediocre Spielberg film. Hehe... but that Tom Cruise. But if you guys want to see me embarass myself, Ill hopefully get a few pictures. =) (You get to see me dance)
Ok, so this week will practically be one party, so hopefully the senior in me will finally awaken.
Skycoasters Concert this Saturday, March 3rd. All should come. Tickets are 8 dollars and its in the auditorium. Oh, the Skycoasters is a band filled with music teachers who want to be young (basically).
And there is that RPYO concert coming up and Will Cho will be playing the Sibelius Violin Concerto (its pretty freaking sweet ^-^). I just want to make one point. Since we want to fill up the Eastman Theater, there is going to be a group discount. If there is 10 people who want to go together, then the tickets will be 3 dollars for students and 5 for adults. So... YG... if you want to go... and get a discount... find 9 other people to go with you. And buy these tickets... from Olivia. I dont have that many... >.<
Just so you know...

| What a dandy week. First there is a snow day (finally) and then there was my crazy senior project concert. If I were to rate this week from 1 to 10, 10 being very stressful and 1 being amazing swell, I would say... it was a 6. Thast right! A six!
Ok, that had no relevance whatsoever, but it was quite stressful. Well, preparing for the concert was stressful. Thats all. I ended up playing the Sinfonia Concertante everyday... 3 times in a row, just so it would...sink in. That actually worked.
Ill talk about the concert later.
But that snow day... how amazing was that! =) I spent most of my Monday night refreshing the Webster District home page until it said there was no school on Tuesday. I mean, it was bound to happen after Pittsford, Penfield, and Rush Henrietta closed due to a "bus malfunction". Luckily, it did. However, it was a very dull, cold snow day; mostly because I finished all of my work the night before. >.< Oh well. I guess it was just what I needed after a long weekend. But... I still had Music Theory class at Eastman. No bus malfunction can stop that class.
However, with snow days come very bad reprecussions. Our orchestra had to perform for the Plank North kids on Wednesday. I mean, everything went well... except for the times where I had to present this piece... called "Death and the Maiden". Its a nice little quartet piece depicting Death chasing a maiden (simple enough right?). After poorly explaining what a quartet is (I asked how many quarters are in a dollar, how many quarts in a gallon... hoping that they can notice that quartet also deals with the number four... but they ended up saying 8), I decided to make them imagine that they were being chased by a bully... who happened to be named "Death". I think around that point, I recieved a few glares from the school administration. But personally, I think it went pretty well. It was a creative way to introduce the piece.
Now, Thursday was pretty stressful. First of all, there were horrible weather conditions that could have cancelled the concert, since this was techinally a "school event". Secondly, the church was having second thoughts about allowing us to use their facilities (so for future reference, Webster Presbyterian Church isnt a nice place to hold a concert). They somehow felt that we were not able to clean up after ourselves. But luckily none of these things happened. However, I was very nervous for the whole day. I wasnt really able to play out correctly (since I was playing the piece memorized). Anywhoo, we also had to get all the food and the flowers right after school (oh. and rent a vest... haha). Somehow, we were able to get everything for the concert in time. Although... I did end up forgetting music and the concert programs >.<. But in the end, everything turned out swell. There was a great turnout, the soloists were amazing, and the Sinfonia Concertante went well. Ahhh... what a relief. Oh, and most importantly, the cake was amazing!
I think thast really it (besides a chamber concert... and the HYSO concert... which I must say was amazing). This week should be dandy... besides the Calc test. Valentine Day is coming up! I hope you guys are ready!
Im not sure if I want to get a carnation... hmmm... *ponders*
